Your Questions, Answered

  • Babywearing is the practice of carrying your baby in a baby carrier, wrap or sling, keeping them close to your body while allowing for hands-free parenting. It supports your baby’s natural need for closeness, comfort and connection, while helping you move through daily life more easily.

For generations across cultures, newborns and young babies have been carried close to their caregivers. When done with safe babywearing techniques and following T.I.C.K.S guidelines, babywearing can support bonding, soothe unsettled babies, and reduce physical strain during the postpartum period. It is not just about using a baby carrier correctly. It is about feeling confident, supported and connected in your mother/parenthood journey.

  • Getting started is simple. Head to my appointments page and book a babywearing session that best suits your needs, whether you are looking for an online consultation or an in-person babywearing session.

If you are unsure which session to choose, or you would like to check availability in your area, please reach out. You can contact me through the website or send me a message on Instagram, and I will happily guide you towards the best option for you and your baby.

When you are ready, I would love to support you. Book your babywearing consultation today and let’s make this season of motherhood feel a little lighter and more supported.

  • Hi, Tania here. I offer both online and in-person babywearing support tailored to your stage of parenthood. If you are expecting, I can help you choose a carrier that truly suits your body, your baby and your lifestyle. If you already have a little one, I can guide you in fitting your current carrier safely and comfortably, or help you explore other options that may work better for your family.

I also offer babywearing workshops designed to raise awareness around safe and comfortable babywearing. These are delivered in partnership with organisations that support families and caregivers of young children. Babywearing is such a powerful tool to empower parents and bring a sense of ease back into what can feel like an overwhelming season of life, and I love helping communities make that support more accessible.

  • I’m a mum, Babywearing Educator and Registered Midwife, so I truly understand how vulnerable and overwhelming early motherhood can feel. Whether you are in the newborn haze or navigating life without much of a village around you, I know how heavy those days can be. My support blends lived experience with evidence based knowledge, always offered gently and without judgment.

I don’t simply show you how to use a carrier. I take the time to adjust, troubleshoot and explain the why, so you leave feeling confident, comfortable and deeply supported. Sometimes the smallest tweak can make the biggest difference. My hope is that through babywearing, you feel more capable, more at ease, and a little more held in this season of motherhood.

  • Online consultations
Using Google Meet, I guide you step by step through using your carrier in the safest and most comfortable way. I wear the same or a similar carrier with a baby doll so you can clearly see how to prepare the carrier and position your baby securely. Often, it is just a few small adjustments that make a world of difference. The best part is that it all happens in the comfort of your own home, even in your PJs.

    In-person sessions
I come to you with a baby doll and a thoughtfully selected range of carriers that I believe may suit your needs. In your own living room or bedroom (no pressure to tidy up), I gently guide you through adjusting your carrier or exploring other styles and brands from my collection. Sometimes hands-on support is exactly what you need to feel confident. How tight is too tight? What should be in-view at all times? What does a healthy M-shaped hip position really look like? Together, we work through it all so you leave feeling reassured and capable.

  • During in-person babywearing consultations, I offer a wide range of baby carriers so you can try before you buy and find the safest and most comfortable option for you and your baby.

  • TICKS is a simple safety checklist used in babywearing to help ensure your baby is positioned correctly in a baby carrier, wrap or sling. It is a helpful guideline to reduce the risk of positional asphyxiation and to promote safe babywearing.

    TICKS stands for:

    T – Tight
Your baby carrier should be snug and secure, holding your baby close to your body without slumping or overtightening.

I – In view at all times
You should always be able to see your baby’s face simply by glancing down, with no fabric covering their face. From the front, you should be able to see the baby’s head down to the bottom of their earlobes.

C – Close enough to kiss
Your baby’s head should be high on your chest, close enough that you can easily kiss the top of their head.

K – Keep chin off chest
There should always be space under your baby’s chin. Their chin should not be pressed down onto their chest (with a hood) or held too loosely to allow their chin to slump to their chest, as this can restrict their airway.

    S – Supported spine
Your baby’s back should be well supported in a natural position, with their tummy and chest against you and their hips in a healthy, supported position.

During our sessions, you will hear me refer to these TICKS guidelines to help you achieve a safe carry whilst also prioritising your comfort as a babywearer.
